The Thai government plans to introduce new visa types in 2024
The Cabinet of Ministers of Thailand has decided on a 60-day visa-free regime for Russians from May 1.Recall that in the autumn of 2023, the kingdom extended the period of visa-free stay of Russians from 30 to 90 days until April 30, 2024.Last year, the country regained its position in the Russian tour market, not only returning the volumes of 2019, but even exceeding them, the Association of Tour Operators reported. According to the Moscow office of the Tourism Administration of Thailand (TAT), the country recorded 1,481,878 arrivals of Russians at that time. In 2019, there were 1.47 million of them.And just a few days ago, the Thai government agreed on visa-free entry for citizens of Kazakhstan. It will operate “on an ongoing basis,” foreign media wrote, citing the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kingdom, the Thai government plans to introduce new types of visas in 2024, according to local newspaper The Thaiger. It is noted that these will be visas for digital nomads, astro- and eco-tourists.The authorities expect that visas for eco-tourists will help attract travelers focused on sustainable tourism and nature conservation to the country. By choosing this type of visa, “tourists will be able to contribute to Thailand’s green initiatives,” the newspaper writes.Astroturism, that is, a combination of astronomy and travel, is gaining momentum in the country and is aimed at astronomers and space enthusiasts. With an astroturist visa, travelers will be able to observe the stars in the most suitable places in the kingdom.A visa for digital nomads will give the right to employees of foreign companies working remotely to live in the country for a long time.
