Tajikistan is considering the introduction of a visa regime for Turkish citizens
Turkey has abolished the visa-free regime for Tajik citizens with a general passport since April 20. The relevant decree of President Erdogan has been published in the official gazette of the Government of the Republic of Resmi Gazete.Since the signing of the relevant decree, Tajik citizens who intend to travel to Turkey must obtain a visa on their own”It was decided to cancel the visa—free regime for Tajik citizens traveling to Turkey with ordinary foreign passports,” the decree says.It is noted that the measure was adopted on the basis of the law on foreigners and international protection.The reasons for the decision are not specified.”The Tajik side, in accordance with the principle of reciprocity, is considering the introduction of a visa regime for Turkish citizens,” the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a comment.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic also stressed that Turkey has not yet notified Tajikistan through diplomatic channels about the cancellation of the visa-free regime for citizens of the country with ordinary passports.”According to international practice, the Turkish side should have notified the Tajik side in advance of the date of introduction of the visa regime.
